I want to help you etch in your mind something that is helpful and useful to your life when you take a trip. What you learn by reading books, watching TV, and somebody telling you is considerably different from what you learn by seeing and hearing in person. Getting to know its context helps describe it with your own words. You get to put what you learnt into action only after you get to your own words. That is when your trip turns rest to get some fresh air into nutrition to enrich your life. That is what I experienced overseas

旅を通じて心に残るものを作りたい。その後の人生に役立つ何かを持ち帰って欲しい。本で読んで、TVで見て、人から聞いて知っていることと実際に自分が見て聞いて理解することとは随分と異なる。そして、さらに見聞しているものの裏側にあることを知ると自分の言葉で説明できるようになる。自分自身の言葉になった時に初めて、知っていることを自分の思考や行動に生かすことができるようになる。旅が、単なる一時のリフレッシュから人生を豊かにする栄養になるのだ。これらは全て自分が経験したことでもある。

What friends I met worldwide made me recognize 世界が教えてくれたこと
I joined volunteer programs in Kenya and Uganda in Africa staying with locals for three months. What I actually experienced in Africa was quite different from what I had read in Japan. Everything from roads, public transportation, dwelling environment, food to education was different from what I had expected in Japan. It was an unknown zone where my common sense didn’t work. I got to know actually what was going on there. That was what statistics such as coverage of the water supply system and appearance such as clothes couldn’t tell. One year after the volunteer work of three months, I again joined volunteer programs in Tanzania and Uganda, Africa for 6 months in total. I also took part in volunteer programs in Mexico and the Philippines. Knowing the truth made you grow up. Differences in aspects can tell you who you are. Knowing yourself is essential to enhancing yourself.
アフリカのケニアとウガンダで、３ヶ月間、ローカルと共に暮らし、ボランティアに参加した。そこで体験したことは、見聞きしていたものとは全く異なるものだった。道路、交通、教育、食、住環境に至る全てが全く違った。自分の常識が通じない未体験ゾーンだった。見た目や統計数値ではわからない本当のことを知った。もっと本当のことを知りたいと思った。３ヶ月のアフリカでのボランティアの１年後、さらに半年間、アフリカのタンザニアとウガンダでボランティアに参加した。メキシコとフィリピンでもボランティアに参加した。真に迫ることは自分を成長させる。常識や考え方の違いは、自分が何者かを教えてくれる。己を知ることは成長には欠かせない。

What I want to share about Japan with you 今度は日本のことを世界へ
When I came back to Japan, I thought how wonderful it was to share Japanese common sense, values, or thoughts that were behind the townscape and behavior habits. I am sure that sharing something that you think is supposed to be odd and that is not odd in the eastern corner of the world and the reason must help us get closer to each other. What I want to share with you is not what I see from far but what I see, touch, and feel in person like I did in Africa. I decided to walk all over Japan as long as possible as cars or motorbikes should induce me to miss the signs. I hope something that I find in your unfamiliar zone changes into the spice of your life.
日本に戻った時、もし日本の街並みや習慣の背後にある常識や考え方が伝えられたらどれだけ素晴らしいかと思った。きっと奇妙に見えることもある世界の東の隅っこにある国の習慣の裏側にあるものを共有することはお互いの成長に繋がるはずだ。そして共有するものは、遠くから眺めたものではなく、アフリカでやったように実際にその中に身を置き、見たもの、触れたもの、感じたものにしたいと思った。車やバイクだと見逃すものがあるはずだから、日本中をできる限り歩くことに決めた。そうやって見つけたものがあなたの旅、そして人生のスパイスになればと思う。

Time to Explore Japan and Discover Something New
About Me.
After graduating from college I engaged in the IT industry for twenty years. After that I worked for restaurants in the US military basement in Okinawa, Japan, which spurred me to learn more about the world. The field work in college, which made me recognize how essential it was to see what was going on with my own eyes, made me decide to join volunteer activities worldwide such as Africa.
Actually, what I saw in Africa was different from what reports and books had made me expect, which stunned me. I keenly felt how essential it was to come face-to-face with reality. In 2022, I started GlobeTrotters and to share what I saw and experienced.
In 2024 when I came back to Japan, the country was facing a demographic crisis. But that was what I knew to some extent around 30 years ago when I was in college. I, who majored in demographics, also knew population movements are not values that represent cause but the value of result that cause brings about. What is happening now must have been caused by what happened much earlier than you expect. However, they are hardly brought up as social issues. There are clues to identify the causes in what happened over 30 years ago in my childhood and school days. I wanted and needed to share what was going on in Japan with those overseas. I started EmpathEye.
大学卒業後、20年間IT業界に従事。その後、日本のアメリカ軍基地の飲食店で働いた時、世界を知りたいと思った。大学時代に福祉の実地調査をした経験から、現地で実際に起きていることを見ることの重要性を感じていたため、アフリカでボランティア活動に参加することを決めた。
実際にアフリカで見たものは、それまで見聞きしていたことと大きく異なっていた。その現実に愕然とするとともに現実を共有することの大切さを感じた。2022年、GlobalTrottersを立ち上げ、その現実を共有することを始めた。
その後、日本に帰国。日本がデモグラフィック・クライシスに直面していた。しかし、それは、私が学生時代だった30年前にある程度分かっていたことだった。私はデモグラフィックス（人口問題）を専攻していたのでそのことはもちろん、その人口動態はあくまで結果数値で原因は違うところにあることも知っていた。今、起きていることは、おそらくみんな思っているよりもずっと前に起きたことが原因である。しかし、今それらが話題になることはほとんどない。その手がかりは、３０年以上前に、つまり自分の子供の頃や学生時代にあるのだ。今度は、日本で起きていることを世界に共有したいと思った。2024年、WebサイトEmpathEye(E2)を開設。現在に至る
